What do i do to start the process?
To get your truck licence you’ll have to do a knowledge test for the licence class you’re applying for.
After the Knowledge test
After you’ve completed the knowledge test ensure that you do the following:
-
You’re required to have a valid eyesight test to proceed with the upgrade, we will not be able to book the assessment with the RTA system if this isn’t done so make sure you ask the receptionist about it if they don’t tell you. Logbooks last longer than 12 months so if you hold on to your log book for a long time before booking in ensure that your eyesight test is current and valid
-
You’ll be asked if you want logbooks or not. The way the licencing works is that you can either go with someone like ABC Driving School and do the training and assessing all together in one package (which requires logbooks) or you can book in to do a CT at a Service NSW which offers them. doing the CT requires you to turn up with your own vehicle and you’ll be taken for a test with an RTA assessor without getting any training from their end.
The no-logbooks route is largely only for people who already have had the licence once before and just need to be re-accredited.
The RTA no logbook route is often a lengthier process simply because there aren’t as many SNSW which conduct assessments.
-
Once you’ve got your logbooks sorted and a valid eyesight test has been recorded all thats left to do is to make a booking with us and we’ll handle the rest!
-
When you turn up on the organised day for training ensure you’re wearing enclosed shoes such as joggers, boots etc.(Thongs/crocs not acceptable). Having a Hi-viz vest or shirt is a plus but not required as we have vests in the trucks if necessary.
